FURTHER STATEMENT OF HON. JAMES WICKERSHAM, FROM THE TERRITORY OF ALASKA. Mr. Wickersham. I think, Mr. Chairman, that at the beginning of this evidence, in these hearings, the resolution ought to go in, and I ask that House resolution 105 go in at the beginning of the hearings. The Chairman. I understand that that has already been done. Mr. Wickersham. Then. Mr. Chairman, I prepared a statement which I gave to the committee, and I think that ought to go in the record. I prepared a statement under oath, and filed it with the committee to show why I thought this action ought to be taken, and I think it ought to go in the record. I do not insist upon it. I merely suggest that it go in the record to make the record complete. Mr. Chindblom. That is a printed statement? Mr. Wickersham. Xo; a typewritten statement. The Chairman. I will state to the committee that there is filed with the committee the application of the contestant, and it was filed in the House, wasn't it. Judge Wickersham? Mr. Wickersham. Yes, my notice of contest was filed with the House and sent to you. The Chairman. And it came to the committee on or about June 12. Mr. Wickersham. I noticed the custom seemed to be that a statement of that kind was necessary to get the matter before the committee. It was done in the other cases and I did it in this case to follow the general custom. Whether the committee wants to print it in the record or not is up to the committee, but I think it ought to be done. Then I want to call the committee's attention for a few minutes to this matter of the soldiers. They are mentioned in that affidavit...
